Seminar on the future of Europe

Addresses by Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen, German Federal Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schäuble and Minister of Finance Jutta Urpilainen

The European Union has traditionally evolved through crises - where is the Union headed next? Addressing the current situation requires open discussion, integrating different points of view.

The Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs/Europe Information and the University of Tampere will arrange a seminar on the future of Europe on Monday, 7 November at 11.00 - 12.30 at the University of Tampere (Main Hall). The event is part of a series of seminars launched in Helsinki at the beginning of September (www.vnk.fi/euroopantulevaisuus).

The seminar will begin with a speech by Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen, followed by addresses by German Federal Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schäuble and Minister of Finance Jutta Urpilainen. All addresses will be made in English.

Registration is now closed as the seminar is fully booked. The event can be followed live at http://www.uta.fi/media/public/live/live.html.

Radio Moreeni will broadcast the event on terrestrial frequency 98.4 MHz, on cable 101.5 MHz.

The entrance of the venue and registration will be opened at 9.30. Participants are asked to arrive at the venue by 10.30 at the latest because of possible security checks. Participants should also be prepared to present a legal proof of identity if asked to do so.

Members of the press are asked to register by Thursday 3 November at the Government Communications Unit: Satu Sisättö, firstname.lastname@vnk.fi or tel. 09 1602 2013. Press cards will be presented on arrival.

Welcome!
