In November 2012 Women's Studies Conference gathers together scholars in Women's and Gender Studies to discuss current issues and latest findings and to share new ideas. The theme of this year's conference is Feminist Spaces and Futures.
The keynote speakers for the conference are British feminist scholars Imogen Tyler (Centre for Gender and Women's Studies, Lancaster University) and Stevi Jackson (Women's Studies, The University of York). The work of Senior Lecturer Imogen Tyler is focused on the formation of revolting subjects. She aims to deepen understandings of neoliberalism by looking into the ways in which individuals and groups embody, live and resist prevailing ideologies of selfhood.
The program also includes presentations from Finnish scholars, and 14 differently themed workshops held in two sessions. The main language in the conference is Finnish, but the keynote lectures as well as six workshops are in English.
The 2012 Women's Studies Conference is organized by The Association for Women's Studies in Finland (SUNS) and the Gender Studies Programme at the University of Tampere.
