The Student Union of the University of Tampere organises the traditional Women Culture Days on 11-13 April this year. The theme is Multiculturality and Gender and, as in the previous years, the programme includes many kinds of feminist activity from lectures and discussions to workshops and evening entertainment.
The programme of the Women Culture Days.
The theme this year is the examination of ethnicity and multiculturality from the perspective of gender because the theme is very topical and important. “Norms do not only limit those people who do not fit them well. They limit all people who are expected to adapt themselves to cultural and religious norms,” says Maryan Abdulkarim who is Multicultural Expert at the Family Federation of Finland and a panellist in the Women Culture Days.
What unvoiced rules do we have in our society? What is it like to live as a woman and a refugee in Finland? These questions and many more will be discussed in the Women Culture Days that are now organised for the 32nd time.
The Women Culture Days are open to all interested participants and this year all the events are free of charge.
