The School of Management and its Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on European Politics and European-Russian Relations is organising the largest conference in Europe on research on the European Union on 13—15 September 2012. 300 researchers are expected to arrive from across Europe, the US and elsewhere.
At the conference, plenary sessions on the topics "EU Democracy Support in the Newly Emerging Middle East and North Africa?" and "Europe in the World" will also be organised. Mr Alexander Stubb, Minister for European Affairs, will participate in the latter discussion together with the international research visitors.
The background organiser of the conference is the Standing Group on the European Union of the European Consortium for Political Research, which is the European scientific society in political science. The conference is organised in different cities at two-year intervals.
The conference addresses, among other things, important issues arising from the research carried out at the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Russian Studies – Choices of Russian Modernisation of the Universities of Tampere and Helsinki.
