
The term of office of the 11-member University Board will end on 31 December 2012. The 4 representatives of the University staff will be elected in an election that will be conducted electronically in October.
The period of nominating candidates ends on Mon 15 October 2012 at 15:45. The instructions and the forms needed for the nomination of the candidates can be found on the election website on the intranet.
The names of the candidates will be published on Tuesday 16 October 2012 at 9:00.
Two of the members representing the staff groupings will be elected among the professors and two among the grouping that represents all other staff.
The Board is the topmost decision-making body of the university. The Board makes the decisions on, for example, the University strategy, the action and economy plan and the budget and it compiles the end of year financial statements. The Board is also responsible for organising the University’s bookkeeping and financial management and it approves the agreements concluded with the Ministry of Education and Culture on behalf of the University.
The Board elects the Rector and decides the numbers of students admitted in the university. The Board also appoints the staff that works directly under the Rector: the Deans and the Directors of Independent Institutes and the Director of Administration, and the Vice-Rectors.
The University Collegiate Body confirms the result of the election.
More information on the election can be obtained on the election website on intranet. The election proclamation details the execution and timetable of the election as well as the stipulations and instructions that concern the election.
Appeals may still be lodged against the preliminary electoral roll at the Registry Office by Mon 8 October at 15:45. The final legal electoral roll will be published on Thursday 11 October at 9:00. People who have lodged an appeal with the election committee will receive an e-mail notification of the committee’s decision also on Thursday.
