
The Regional Board of Pirkanmaa has granted 225 500 Euros to the University of Tampere for the development of clinical and regulatory processes in BioMediTech in 2012. The funding originates from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and State co-financing.
With the funding, new operating environments and models for the regulatory processes and clinical trials required e.g. for the commercialization of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products will be developed in BioMediTech. A regulatory expert and a clinical protocol developer will be appointed to the project to implement the processes.
One of the goals of BioMediTech is to form a centre specialized in the commercialization of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products. In addition to the BioMediTech research groups, the expertise acquired during the project will be available to other scientists in Finland.
The project will last until the end of June, 2013. The total cost estimate of the project is 540 000 Euros. The ERDF and State co-funding will share of the total costs is 360 000 Euros and municipal and other public funding will total 180 000 Euros.
