Films made by the indigenous Sámi people in Finland are now in demand not only on indigenous film festivals but also on other venues. A generation of young Sámi film-makers is about to step up, but money for making films is scarce. In addition, the film-makers are short of professional actors who know the Sámi language.

Zimbabwean filmmaking has long focused on educational, enlightening or even moralistic films, often because those are the only themes that have received funding from Europe and different aid organisations. Only in the last few years have local filmmakers begun to tell their own stories.
