Anneli Ahonen

Short films will soon get their own television channel. Mini Movie International channel will broadcast at first in Russia, Germany, France and United Kingdom. The channel’s programming will consist of short films from all over the world and it will begin its operation in September.

The man behind the channel is the founder of Russian Ren-Tv channel, Dmitriy Lesnevskiy.

– The owners of Ren-Tv sold their share because of political pressure and invested in a new, fee-based, channel focusing on short films, says Tilmann Scheel, the managing director of Reelport.

Reelport is an online service where film producers, distributors and buyers meet. Reelport will provide the new channel with the short films and their broadcasting rights.

$20 million dollars have been invested in this new commercial channel.

- The channel seeks to make a profit and it will show commercials. The programming will feature mainstream short films that entertain the viewers, adds Scheel.
