The first screening on Friday includes silent films made during 1916 and 1938. Depicted in these films are, among others, tar burning and winter life. Iiro Rantala, a top pianist from Trio Töykeät, accompanies the film with his piano.
The second screening focuses on the few documentaries made about Lapland during the war and after it, during the rebuilding. Examples of these are Rebuilding Rovaniemi and Lapland Rising. Screened are also Erik Blomberg's and Eino Mäkinen's works With the Reindeer and Gold and Sand.
The third and fourth screening consist of Lapland-themed films from the 1950s and 1960s. Included, among others, are the first colour film about Lapland, the notable Sompio-series and Aino Jäderholm's musical masterpiece Song for the Mountains.
