Great Fun
Children Television Classics at the Film Festival
The Tampere Film Festival has for many years educated their future
viewership by offering special showings for kindergartens. This year t
the kids, gathered in the Tullikamarin Pakkahuone, could enjoy the same
classics which were their parents' favourites in the early years of
"Pikku Kakkonen" (The little Two), the Kids' TV show on Finnish channel
number two.

Lauri Suokko and Aarne Lylykorpi think that Kössi is the best.

Sympathetic characters attract adults too
The classics show was an amusing event for the parents too: the kids
participated very actively in the event hosted by Monsieur Stripe,
reacting enthusiastically and shouting out loud comments. For the
smallest of them, however, the show, which took almost an hour, was a
bit too long.
From the well remembered series "Pretty Behaviour" (Käytöskukka), two
sequences had been chosen: in "Politeness" and "Greed" the pigs Whine
and Shine talked in funny ways about matters, that would be rather
useful for the grown-ups of today too.
The most sympathetic figure was Sandman, though. The loved icon, known
for always using different means and vehicles of transportation, waved
goodbye to the children and flew with his rocket directly to the Red
Square in Moscow
Kössi is the Best
Aarne Lylykorpi and Lauri Suokko, both 6 years old, are serious great
consumers of films and videos and experienced critics as well. Together
with hundreds of kindergarten kids the boys fully enjoyed the parade of
children's classics. In the interview, they generously gave after the
show, they described their views:
"Kössi was of course the best", claimed Aarne.
"Yeah, and I wasn't afraid of anything" responded Lauri.
At this point the interview is interrupted as the critics insist in
receiving chewing gum and super balls. As a compromise we buy only gum.
And what do the boys think of film and animations in general?
"Toy Story 2 is grand."
"Yeah, and Pokèmon 2 too."
"But Digimons are better than Pokemons and Spiderman beats Pokemons
too!"
"Yak, this gum has liquorice in it. I want strawberry!"
