The Film Market Is the Buyer's Market
The Film Market is again held at the Tampere Film Festival. Here the Finnish filmmakers and producers have the chance to offer their films to the international buyers and festival representatives who are attending the Film Festival. Market services include the video on demand service and a film sales catalogue which this year holds some 1600 titles. Participation in the Market is free of charge.

"The first day was so very easy for use because veterans of the Film Festival reserved a whole bunch of films and then sat in the screening booths for hours. Friday, on the other hand, was really busy because there were more customers and the screening periods were shorter," says Juhani Anttila, who works at the Film Market for the second year.
Most of the Market customers are representatives of non-Finnish film festivals and TV-channels, but also several directors visit the Market.
"Word has clearly spread on some films. For instance, many have wanted to see The Diver by P.V. Lehtinen."
"Some filmmakers have offered their film to us even during the Festival and we have gladly taken them for screening in the Market. In these cases, advertising the film is the responsibility of the filmmakers themselves because the films can't be entered in the catalogue anymore."
Reruns of Competition Screenings
Daniele Lunghini, the director of the Italian film Le Foto Dello Scandalo, which was seen in the International Competition, visited the Market to see the work of her competitors:
"I attended the competition screening, but I wanted to see a few films again. I would have wanted to see Sami Hantula's The Poor Guy and the Paranormal but it was being screened at the moment. I'll come again in the afternoon."
The filmmakers will be informed on the people who view their films at the Market. This way they can later push their work to the potentially interested buyers.
