Fame and Fortune
in Book of Faith

The viewer may have to blink a time or two in the Media Schools -screening on Friday. Kohtalon kirja (Book of Faith), the student work of Tommi Lepola and Tero Molin, is full of celebrities. The trailer is three minutes long, and features Vesa Vierikko, Santeri Kinnunen, Mikko Nousiainen, Tony Halme, Esko Roine, Eila Roine, Karoliina Blackburn and Jenni Ahola.

The film will be finished in 2002 and will be distributed as VHS and DVD. There is also a preliminary agreement on television production.

These celebrities will not star in the film. The leading roles go to the recently graduated actors Johanna Kokko and Juha-Pekka Mikkola.

A Rare Episode Movie

The film proceeds in sequences and moves chronologically from the 16th century to the 22nd century. The first episode is a horror story and it has been filmed at Suomenlinna. The next episode is a western, filmed in the Ähtäri Wild West Village and the last one, a sci-fi episode, will be filmed this spring at the Channel Two studios in Tampere. One of the Finnish film industry's legends will star in the last episode, but the director Tommi Lepola will not yet reveal who this legend is.

Tommi Lepola and Tero Molin Move the Celebrities

The celebrities have volunteered for the film. There are several roles in every episode – only the leading characters are the same from one episode to another. The guiding thought has been that there shall be no expenses or extra trouble to the volunteers, just a good feeling. In addition, work done with the professionals has been divided into smoothly running sections.

Tommi Lepola

- Kohtalon kirja will be finished in 2002 and it is pure entertainment where the viewers should feel good when the film ends, says the film's other director/scriptwriter Tommi Lepola.

- It has been very easy and nice to work with the professionals. Nobody's been a diva during the filming, Lepola says.

Volunteers and Sponsors

Lepola and Molin got the initial funding for their film from their schools, the Tampere Polytechnic and the Voionmaa Institute. They also got equipment, material and working space from them.

Sponsors came with the celebrities. In addition to the actors, there have been other volunteers, namely stunt coordinator Jouni Kivimäki. Tommi Lepola emphasizes that their film is pure entertainment. They hope that time goes by quickly when you are watching it and that the viewers feel good when the film ends.

The trailer of the movie Kohtalon kirja (Book of Faith) can be seen 40 times per day on the Keskustori screen. The trailer can also be seen during the Festival at the Siperia Lobby and at the Telakka Restaurant.
