Broomfield's film got lost

Kurt Cobain
Broomfield's document tells about Kurt Cobain's suicide.

Kurt and Courtney has disappeared on its way to Tampere. Nick Broomfield's film is on the programme today, but the screening is uncertain.

Pandora's Box, a document about secret perversions of New York businessmen was shown at the festival on Friday.

During his career the 50-year-old British documentarist Nick Broomfield has often encountered problems in his search for truth. His films have been both banned and restricted from showing.

"Let's do Broomfields"

Broomfield is, however, more than a director evoking contradictory feelings and emotional storms: he has become a concept for other professionals and amateurs of the scene.

Broomfield has got his own way of working. A Broomfield documentary is an entertaining film featuring the film-maker himself without focusing completely on interviewing the central character in it.

Broomfield's technique is not unique as such - many authors and journalists have used similar methods - but it has become his trademark. In his documentaries the maker himself is never just an invisible background force but someone who lets himself go with the flow of the story.
