Postgraduate courses and seminars

DPPH offers postgraduate courses in various fields of public health and with a variety of methodological approaches (e.g. epidemiology, qualitative research). DPPH also arranges yearly 1-2 courses intended for all students and addressing general questions related to postgraduate studies and research skills.

The courses do not form a consistent 4-year program of postgraduate coursework, but students are free to choose courses and to combine these, in consultation with their supervisors, into a program of study that best suits them.

The courses are organized in collaboration with academic staff of the Universities. The training is provided by leading Finnish and international scholars in their respective fields.

DPPH students may also attend other postgraduate courses in their discipline at their home universities, or national scientific workshops in their field and, if possible, attend postgraduate courses and other courses offered by or organized in conjunction with other doctoral programs. 

Students may also attend postgraduate courses of other doctoral programs or universities in Finland or abroad. Travel grants to attend these courses are available for students.
