| Contents | This course will provide an overview of systematic reviews, and step-by-step guide on how to perform a systematic review of experimental and observational studies. The course will be delivered through lectures, computer practicals and group discussions. The following four steps of a systematic review and meta-analysis will be covered: 1) Formulate the review question (Lecture and group work) 2) Define inclusion and exclusion criteria (Lecture and group work) 3) Develop search strategy and locate primary studies (Lecture and computer practical, systematic literature searches using PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, Web of Knowledge, Scopus, and briefly Sciverse, CINAHL, AMED and Google Scholar). 4) Select studies and assess their quality (Lecture and group work) and finally a group work to evaluate critically few systematic reviews (evaluation of review question, inclusion and exclusion criteria, search key terms, and quality assessment). |
