The School of Health Sciences is a multidisciplinary education and research unit. Our research focuses on the determinants of health, on the impacts and means of health promotion and prevention, on the health care system and health policy, on nursing and on the foundations of health and well-being.
The multidisciplinary nature of the School of Health Sciences and a variety of research groups enable a broad spectrum of studies and collaboration in the field of health sciences. Strategically important research fields are biostatistics, cancer epidemiology, ageing and family nursing. We have extensive collaboration with several national and international universities and research institutes. Currently our main domestic collaborators are the National Institute of Health and Welfare, the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, the Finnish Cancer Registry, the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, The UKK Institute of Health Promotion.
