Master’s Degree Programme in Public and Global Health

Admission Criteria 2017-2019

Eligibility criteria to the Master’s Degree Programme in Public and Global Health consist of two parts: the University of Tampere general eligibility criteria and programme specific eligibility criteria, which specify and/or add information to the general criteria. Applicants must meet both in order to be considered eligible.

General eligibility:

To be eligible to apply for a Master’s programme at the University of Tampere an applicant must have:

1. A completed university level Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the field of the desired programme or in a closely related subject

2. Fluency in English sufficiently advanced for academic studies. For requirements, please see Language requirements.

Programme specific admission criteria

To be eligible to the programme an applicant must have a university level Bachelor's degree in public or global health or another health-related field or alternatively a university level Bachelor's degree in some other relevant field accompanied with a sufficient amount of studies in the field of health. In addition, work experience in public or global health will be taken into account.

Other requirements

The Bachelor's degree or equivalent must be completed by the time the programme begins. If the degree is not completed by the end of the application period, an applicant can be accepted to the programme on the condition that she/he sends the degree certificate to the School office by 31 July 2017. An attested copy of the degree certificate must reach the University of Tampere Admissions office by the deadline. A successful applicant will, in this case, first receive a notification on conditional acceptance and later an official letter of acceptance once the degree certificate has reached the University of Tampere.

If the applicant has a degree in which the relevant studies in the applicable fields are insufficient, the university may require that the student conducts additional studies in addition to the Master's degree studies.

Priority will be given to applicants with no prior Master’s degree or higher degree.
