Research

Jean Monnet Centre promotes and coordinates research projects and networks in the field of European integration studies within the University of Tampere as well as nationally and internationally. Specific attention is assigned to the areas of European politics, European-Russian relations and regional cooperation broadly defined.

The research and research coordination of the Jean Monnet professor focuses on European integration, energy policy, regional co-operation and EU's external relations, with a special emphasis on Russia and European-Russian relations, in addition to developing the theoretical and methodological base that these areas presuppose. The Jean Monnet Professor leads the ‘Diversification of the Economy’ thematic area of the Centre of Excellence (CoE) of the Academy of Finland on ‘Choices of Russian Modernisation’ (2012-17).
