Winter School in Tampere 2. - 6.11.2015 | PROGRAMME

Seasonal schools

"One of the great advantages of the programme was that we had such a diverse group of students with completely different academic backgrounds that really allowed for great discussions and seminars, especially during the weeklong intensive schools in Petrozavodsk and St Petersburg, when we join the Russian students for classes." - Cai, student of the programme 2011-13

The International Relations major of the programme is offered as a double degree programme with Petrozavodsk and St. Petersburg State Universities. A considerable part of the studies are offered in cooperation in seasonal schools, which take place once a semester in each partner university in rotation. Attending the seasonal schools is obligatory for the IR students; it may also be possible for students of Sociology and Russian language and culture to participate in them.

First of the seasonal schools is organised in Tampere in the first autumn of studies, the second in Petrozavodsk in the following spring, and the third and final in St.Petersburg in the autumn of the second year of studies. Seasonal schools include a week of intensive studies for some of the obligatory IR courses, thesis supervision and seminars, and additional free time programme. Travel and accommodation of UTA students is covered by the university.
