Changes in the overdue practice and the courtesy notice for the approaching due date from the 3rd of September

The overdue practice will be renewed at the Tampere University Library. From the 3^rd of September the charges will be incurred immediately after the due date, if the customer has not returned or renewed the items in time.

Until the end of August the customers still have the possibility to return or renew their loans within three days after the due date without charges.

Also from the 3^rd of September all customers will receive a courtesy notice for the approaching due date. The notice will be sent for 2 week loans (the textbook collection) and 4 week loans (general collection).

The courtesy notice will be sent at least two days before the due date primarily by e-mail. It will be delivered by post only if the customer has not given an e-mail address to the library register. The customers get the courtesy notice automatically if the library has their current contact information.

The library still sends two overdue notices for overdue items. The first notice will be sent as before, that is on the first possible day after the due date but not on weekends or midweek holidays. The second notice will be sent a little later than before, that is six days after the first overdue notice at the earliest.

The customers are still responsible for returning and renewing their loans in time. The library cannot be held responsible if there are problems with the arrival of the notices.

With these changes the library wishes to develop its services and ensure the availability of its materials for all customers.
