The collections of Tampere University Library include books, journals, newspapers and e-resources (see Electronic Resources 2015). Information on printed resources and e-books can be found in Tamcat database. Information on electronic resources can be found in Nelli portal.
The Library is open to everyone. The printed resources can mainly be borrowed. The electronic resources are free to use for all at the premises of the library. Furthermore, the staff and students of the University and the staff of the University Hospital can access the electronic resources remotely.
The collections of printed books and periodicals are located in Linna and Arvo. The collections are placed on several floors and in storage areas. The resources in the closed stacks can be ordered by contacting the service desk or with an order form.
Linna acquires information resources mainly in information and media sciences, business and management, social sciences, history, education, language and linguistics and arts.
Arvo acquires information resources mainly in health sciences. It also provides library services to the Tampere University Hospital. Arvo acquires all the required books and journals for the specialists' degrees.
The Collection development policy (only in Finnish) is the background and framework for developing and building the collections of Tampere University Library. The premise of the collection building is to serve the needs of research and teaching in the Tampere University. The library collection covers all research and teaching fields of the schools and units of the university and the University Hospital.
