The Collection development policy (only in Finnish) is the background and framework for developing and building the collections of Tampere University Library.
The library is open to everyone. The premise of the collection building is to serve the needs of research and teaching in the Tampere University. The library collection covers all research and teaching fields of the schools and units of the university and the University Hospital.
Guide to the principles of textbook acquisition (only in Finnish)
The Tampere University Library has developed a collection mapping method in collaboration with other scientific libraries. Using this method the library evaluates and develops its print and electronic collections that are essential to the teaching and research fields of the University of Tampere.
Since 2006, the library has evaluated over twenty subject-based collections mainly in information sciences, literary research, linguistics, behavioural science and health sciences. The evaluation of the collections still continues and, among others, collections in social sciences are still to be evaluated.
The library saves the collection descriptions created as the result of the evaluation in the library's intranet.
