The pedagogical holdings at the Tampere University Library are located in Humanika. The central disciplines in the Humanika holdings are education, adult education, early childhood education, and the research of learning and teaching.
The library holdings contain books and periodicals both in printed and in electronic form. The printed collections can be browsed on the new arrivals shelves, on open shelves, in the text book reading room and on the journal shelves. However notice, that the books which may interest you most, may be used by another patron, be on loan, or otherwise misplaced in the library. In addition, older books have been transferred to storage. You may best find information on all the collections of the Tampere University Library by searching the library's database Tamcat. The electronic collections can be accessed through the Nelli portal.
The circulating books on education sciences (shelf classes) are located on the first floor and the non-circulating books (shelf classes) on the second floor in Humanika. The newest journals and periodicals are located on the second floor, the older volumes are in open and closed storages. E-journals can be browsed online on the computer located next to the journal collection.
The printed theses on education published at the University of Tampere are located in the main library (Linna). As of 1999 the dissertations, and as of 2000 the theses have been in the large part published in electronic format. Doctoral dissertations on education are placed in the open collection classified by subject in Humanika. In order to locate the dissertation, check the location from Tamcat.
