Ask the Library

Ask the Library service is for all customers of the Library. You can send your question using the online form. You can find the form also by clicking the icon on the Library's front page.

  • The questions are read daily and we aim to answer within four working days. The answer will be sent to the e-mail address given by the customer.
  • The contact is free, but for certain information services the Library will charge service fees according to the Service fees list.

You can find answers among Frequently Asked Questions even when the Library is closed. The question box on Library front page offers ready questions when you start writing. You can also choose a topic from the word cloud.

Chat icon

Chat service is for quick and short questions. Chat icon is at the bottom corner of Library's every web page.

  • Tell your question at the beginning of the message so that you can get an answer from the on-call specialist with most expertise on your issue.
  • Please note that answering may take more time if there is rush at the Library's Customer Service.
  • If chat is offline you can still get help. Search our FAQ-page or/and submit your question

Book a Librarian service offers personal guidance for the students and staff of the University of Tampere and the staff of Tampere University Hospital Tays. This free, one-hour Book a Librarian service is intended for guidance on information retrieval and the use of e-resources offered by the Library.

Book the service by filling out this form. The form can also be find on the Library's front page by clicking the icon.

PLEASE NOTE: If you want guidance on using e-books, download Adobe Digital Editions to your computer and activate your Adobe ID in advance. For a tablet download Bluefire Reader from Apple Store or Google Play.

Personal guidance via Skype

You can also book a librarian for online personal guidance. You’ll need the University’s Office365 service, a desktop or a laptop computer and a headset with microphone for that. We recommend that you download the Skype for Business add on in advance.

Information specialists are happy to come to the faculties and tell more about databases and information seeking.

Search guides are also available.
