
Interlibrary Services supply books and article copies from other libraries to patrons. The Library also sends publications and copies from its collections to other libraries when requested. There are fees for interlibrary services. Fees for patrons and libraries are listed in the service fees list.
The Interlibrary Services office is located on the first floor. There are no fixed service hours beginning from 1st of August, 2011. You may visit the office always, when the door is open. You can also call or send an e-mail to Interlibrary Services.

Please, note that the time of delivery may vary. Article copies are usually delivered in a few days.
Circulation terms, e.g., loan period, home and/or reading room loans, are determined by the library that owns the material.
When the requested item has arrived we will notify you by e-mail. You can pick up the loan or copies from the circulation desk, where you can also pay for them. We will also charge you for the books or copies that have not been collected by the due date.
You will see the due date on a slip attached to the book. Your patron information in Tamcat does not include interlibrary loans.
If you want to extend the loan period, you can ask the interlibrary loan service to renew the item before the due date
Foreign interlibrary loans cannot be renewed.
Interlibrary loans can be returned at the circulation desk or at the interlibrary services office.
If the desired item is available in the Repository Library in Kuopio, then it may be worthwhile to find out more about Universal Borrowing (UB).

Interlibrary Services in the Main library also handle Humanika patrons’ interlibrary loans and copies from other Finnish and foreign libraries. Requests can be made by filling out the interlibrary loan form, by e-mail ykkauko@uta.fi or by visiting the interlibrary service office (1st floor) in the Main library.
Humanika sends loans and copies from its own collections to other libraries. Interlibrary loans and copies are not sent directly to a private person, but the local library always acts as an intermediary.

University of Tampere and Tampere University Hospital staff can request article copies from Tertio's journal collection.
Copies are delivered by e-mail as pdf-files, while paper copies are sent by in-house mail or by fax. Article copies cost 30 cents/page; print-outs of electronic journal articles cost 15 cents/page.
Universal borrowing (UB) makes it possible for the patrons to request interlibrary loans themselves from the Repository Library in Kuopio.
UB-requests are done through Tamcat. The pick-up place can be chosen between the Main Library, Humanika or Tertio. When the requested book arrives in the Library, the patron will be notified either by e-mail or by regular mail. There is a charge of one euro for notices sent through regular mail.
UB-loans carry a fee of five euros as indicated in the service fee list.
UB-requests can only be made for available books; it is not possible to request journals or articles.
Only the patron can renew UB-loans through Tamcat. The maximum renewal time is 10.
