The Textbook Reading Room is available for the students of Tampere University 24 h/day
The Textbook Reading Room is located on the second floor in the Main Library, Linna. Entrance is through the lobby of the main entrance to the Linna-building. The Reading Room is meant for reading and silent working. Mobile phones must be turned off when entering. Eating is not allowed.
There is a place for copying in the Textbook Reading Room. The copy machine requires a copy card, which can be purchased at the circulation counter on the first floor.
The books, that are required reading in curricula, are included in the textbook collection. There is one copy of each title at the minimum.
Obtaining a book to read takes place by borrowing it with one's library card. Reading room copies of textbooks can be borrowed from 10:00 a.m. and taken out of the reading room. The loan expires at 10:00 a.m. next day (next opening day of the library), the borrowed book has to be returned by 10 a.m. at the very latest. The loan can be returned to the librarian in the Textbook Reading Room or by using the self-service return machine on the first floor in the library and after closing time into the drop box in the textbook reading room or into the drop box next to the main entrance on Kalevantie.
Reading Room textbooks cannot be reserved, they are loaned on the first-come-first-serve basis. Moreover, the same person can’t borrow straight away his overnight loan again in the morning, only after 11 a.m., if nobody else has borrowed it.
Late returns carry a charge of 15 € and a borrowing ban for one week. During the borrowing ban, no books can be borrowed in the text book reading room or in the library; neither can loans be renewed nor reservations be made for any book.
