From the beginning of 2016 Tampere University Press (TUP) will be profiled as a peer-reviewed Open Access publishing channel and will cease publishing printed books. The objective of the reorganization is to promote openness in scholarly publishing as well as international visibility and impact of the research.
In the future the Open Access books of TUP will be published both on TamPub portal and on international OAPEN Library portal that excellently suits the profile of the University of Tampere.
The publishing of dissertations in Acta series both printed and online continues as before.
The requirement of open science has become part of funding practices of the key sponsors (e.g. Academy of Finland, NordForsk, Horizon 2020 programme). To promote openness the research projects need a well functioning infrastructure for easy and reliable publishing.
As an experienced publisher Tampere University Press offers a reliable publishing channel. The high quality peer review of the manuscripts will continue and the Publication Forum level 1 (JuFo level 1) will remain the same. The publishing process of TUP has been awarded the Certificate for Peer-reviewed content by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies (TSV).
