Quality Management at the University of Tampere

At the University of Tampere the quality management system is seen as a set of several university and school level
monitoring, steering and planning processes. Most important ones are:

1) the annual planning process,

2) the self-evaluations of the schools (CAF-based),

3) the self-assessments of the University leadership and

4) the curriculum planning (every three years).

The management processes and quality management procedures are stated in the Tampere University Quality Manual and The School Quality Manuals.

The quality management methods are usually seen as a cycle of planning, doing, checking and acting. In
practice this means, that after clear processes of planning the education (‘plan’) offered at UTA, the education
is then carried out (‘do’) as planned. After each education module, feedback will be gathered from participants
(‘check’) and after careful assessment of all the feedback material, if necessary, amendments can be made to
education modules (‘act’).
