Folklife archives

The extensive tradition archives are situated inside the Department of Music Anthropology. The collections include over 20,000 hours of sound recordings, about 200,000 photographs, records, musical instruments and manuscripts. The archives of the department are one of the largest folklife archives in Finland.

The archives of the Department of the Music Anthropology are primarily used in the research and teaching of the department. Other departments of the University of Tampere and schools of the district also use the archives. Everyone looking for information may use the archives and, on the whole, the number of the users is great.
