The Department of Music Anthropology (former the Department of Folk Tradition) is one of the departments of the Faculty of Humanities in the University of Tampere. The main focus of research and teaching is on different manifestations of popular (folk) music which is regarded as art and as part of social life. The department is particularly specialized in ethnomusicological research of arts, and in cultural and social anthropology.
