Unit for Class Teacher Education

The Unit for Primary (classroom) Teacher Education is one of the three units in the Department of Teacher Education. It is located in Hämeenlinna, 75 kilometers south of Tampere and the main university campus.

The education aims at moral, societal and professional responsibility and ability to defend educational values and children’s and adolescent’s interests in various settings and discussions. Our mission is to educate teachers, who are aware of their role not only as educators but also as influential social agents and users of pedagogic power. In addition, students should be able to recognize themselves being under the influence of varying power relations, assessment and the global trends in educational policies.
