Towards Engaging Journalism

The three-year project Towrads Engaging Journalism (2009-2011) aims to study what is "engaging" journalism made of. What is it that makes journalism relevant, interesting and egaging for its public? These questions are studied with the help of audience research, textual analysis and co-operation with newsrooms.

The coordinator and main implementer of the research is the Journalism Research and Development Centre (JTY) of the University of Tampere. Other participants include the Department of Communication, University of Helsinki and the Department of Communication, University of Jyväskylä.
