- Tampere University Unit for cultural research in Virrat creates facilities for field research among different branches of science in the university. The unit can be used for scientific seminars, meetings and higher education. The facilities are also rented for university staff, student communities and to all eventual user groups, including private occasions.

- The unit is located in town of Virrat district, immediately by route 66 and highway 23, opposite to the Virrat heritage village. The distance between Virrat central and the unit is less than four kilometres. It is 110 km to Tampere (via Kuru), 113 to Jyväskylä and 91 km to Seinäjoki. The closest railway station is in Parkano (60 km from Virrat) wherefrom there is a bus connection to Virrat. In the summertime you can come to Virrat by boat, too. M/S Tarjanne leaves from Tampere. There is a pier for small boats next to the unit.
