Up-to-date in vitro approaches in regulatory risk assessment and disease modelling

European Consensus Platform for Alternatives (ecopa) and Scandinavian Society for Cell Toxicology (SSCT), cordially invite you to participate in the joint ecopa SSCT workshop in Helsinki 14 - 16 June 2017. The workshop consists of several sessions, industry organized Technical workshops and student sessions. The workshop will provide you with the up-to-date methodology and their scientific and regulatory relevance in key areas of toxicology and disease models.

Read-across is an essential tool to assess safety risk of a chemical.  However, the challenge is how to use Read-across and other non-animal approaches so that the information gained meets the regulatory acceptance. These issues with practical approaches will be discussed. Read-across is also very useful tool for development of new pharmaceuticals, and it is an essential part in modern drug discovery. How to use most optimum way Read-across in drug discovery will also be discussed in the workshop.

Right prediction of efficacy before clinical study phases is the most crucial for successful drug development because the major reason for failures in clinical phase is unacceptable efficacy in patients. In this workshop new disease modelling approaches are presented to improve probability of success of pharmaceutical development.

Young scientists are specially encouraged to present their research work and get reflection from senior scientists. For this two special sessions are dedicated in addition to the possibility to present the work in a poster.

The meeting will take place in a conference centre Hotel Rantapuisto located in a beautiful location by the sea in Helsinki. It has high level high level auditorium and other facilities. The place is very close to the city center and it is easy to reach by metro, bus, car or taxi.
