What is the Electronic Exam Service? See brief description

The University of Tampere electronic examinations service is an information system developed on the Moodle teaching platform. It makes it possible to take examinations, traditional exams on set books, exams on lectures and diagnostic tests using the information net.

The address of the electronic examinations service is http://tenttis.uta.fi. On the front page you will find instructions for making a reservation to take an electronic exam and on how to get to the examination rooms. Take a good look at these. Instructions for taking the exams will be found in the exam rooms. Read these before starting on your exam.

What examinations can I take?

Here's how to consult an up-to-date list of electronic exams for which you can make a reservation:

Start making your reservation by clicking the Make a reservation key and then select from the list the subject for which you want to check out the exams available. If you do not want to make a reservation right away click the Cancel reservation key and you will get back to the front page of the service.

From here you will get to a list showing the exams currently available and the exams shortly to become available for reservations. The list will be updated according to how teachers join those accepting electronic examinations.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is my course unit not visible in the list of exams?

With a few exceptions that depend on the exam, a student can try to do the same exam two times. Both answering the questions and leaving the questions unanswered count as times the student has tried to do the exam. When the two times have been used up, the course is no longer visible in the student’s list of exams. After the two times are up, the student must send a request about re-opening the exam by sending e-mail to tenttis@uta.fi.

Can I retake an exam right away?

If you have not already used your right to retake an exam, you can retake the exam before it is graded. You can retake a passed exam in order to improve your grade even when you have used up the two times you can take an exam after the instructor has graded your previous exams. The best grade you receive for the assessed component will be entered in your academic record.

How much time do I have to do the exam? Can I start late?

Duration of electronic exams is determined on the basis of ECTS, please page Reserving an Examination . The duration is always visible in the exam information as well. The dedicated time slots start on the hour, for example at 8 or 12 sharp. If the student cannot start the exam at the designated time and believes that she or he needs less than four hours to complete the exam, the student can also start the exam after the time slot has started. However, please do not disturb the other students when you enter the room where the exam has already started.

Where can I do an electronic exam?

At the moment, the University of Tampere has facilities for electronic exams in three locations: in Tampere (on the main campus and Kauppi campus) and at the University Consortiums of Seinäjoki and Pori. You can do all your exams in any one of these places.

Why is it important to cancel the exam in advance?

There is limited space and times in the facilities for electronic exams and nearly all degree programmes have study units with exams. In an ideal situation, the facilities for electronic exams are in active use all the time the facilities are open. This is possible only if the cancelled exam times become available so that other students can take them. In addition, if you cancel the exam before you are supposed to take it, this does not reduce the number of times you can take the exam.
Why is my completed course unit not visible in Student's Desktop even though I already received information about the grade in my e-mail?

The student receives an e-mail message as soon as the teacher has locked the grading of the exam in the electronic exam system. However, the grade does not transfer automatically from the exam system to the academic records. The teacher must first hand in the information on the completed course unit to the Study Affairs personnel in the faculty who feed the information into the academic records. According to the University of Tampere’s Regulations on the Assessment of Studies, the results of electronic exams must in the main be published within three weeks after the exam.
