Exchange Destinations in Africa
At present, the University of Tampere has one bilateral partner university in Africa, Saint Augustine University of Tanzania in Mwanza. SAUT offers nearly all courses in English. SAUT can be found in Mobility-Online portal by selecting Bilateral Agreement as the exchange programme.
You can engage in volunteer work during, before or after the exchange period, if you arrange it yourself. Mwanza features a variety of aid and other organisations. If you would like to do volunteer work during your exchange period, remember to find out beforehand whether or not the work can be included in your degree as practical training. Credit transfer is a requirement for volunteer work during the exchange period. For further enquiries on arranging a volunteer work placement, please contact Leena Uski.
A sense of community is very important in Africa, and you are expected to participate in events organised by the university as a representative of the University of Tampere.

ISEP exchange is available to degree students who have studied at the UTA for a minimum of one academic year. During your exchange period, you can study any discipline with the exception of clinical medicine. You can apply for exchange in Africa also via the ISEP programme.
