The application period for the Master's degree programmes given in English by the School of Information Sciences, University of Tampere, has closed for this year's entry. Thanks to all applicants!
The next application round will begin around 1 December 2012 for students starting their studies in autumn term 2013. Besides the Human-Technology Interaction programme and the Software Development programme we plan to start then a new Master's degree programme in Internet and Game Studies.
Preliminary information on the Human-Technology Interaction programme content is now available on the HTI programme page.
Please notice that we have country-specific requirements concerning applicants with a previous degree from the following countries: Bangladesh, Cameroon, Canada, China, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan, USA. For these requirements please see University Admissions Finland website.
After the application deadline the application documents are preprocessed and verified by University Admissions Finland (UAF). After this, we will receive the applications, and the academic qualifications of the applicants are assessed by the programme teachers.
Please notice that we do not assess applicants' educational backgrounds outside the application period. We trust that applicants familiarise themselves with the offered programmes and their requirements, and compare these with their educational background and qualifications.
Applicants from Finnish AMK polytechnics or universities of applied science should notice that the overall grade of their amk studies must be good, and the grade of the Bachelor's thesis must be at least 3 out of 5.
Admitted new students with amk/polytechnic background are requested to take some complementing studies (a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 60 ECTS credits) after arriving at UTA.
Also applicants who have taken their school education in Finnish are welcome to apply for our Master programmes given in English. These applicants should notice that the same Master's programmes are from 2012 no longer offered in Finnish.
It is, however, possible to take many exams and to write the Master's thesis in Finnish. Therefore applicants who have taken their school education in Finnish (yläaste, lukio) are not required to submit an IELTS or TOEFL test score. Instead, they submit sufficient proof of their English skills.
Please notice that applicants with a degree from Finland taken in English are not in this category. For example, applicants with an AMK degree taken in English in Finland must submit a test score.
The student selections will be announced in mid-May at the latest. Please notice that we cannot give out information regarding the selections before they have been confirmed by the Dean.
