
The University of Tampere is renewing its doctoral programmes and their admission procedure.
There will be three doctoral programmes at the School of Information Sciences. The programmes will start on 1 August 2012. The programmes are

In Information Studies we granted until 31 July 2008 also the degrees of Licentiate/Doctor of Social Sciences.
Old students with the right to take doctoral studies continue for the time being in the old programmes. Regulations regarding transfers to the new programmes will be given later.
The new Study Guide 2012-15 will be available during summer 2012.

UTA has joint
Doctoral course units including academic writing etc. in English.
The School's doctoral students (who have a valid University's email address) will be added to an Email list called sis-tohtorikoulutus. The list will be used for official information about the doctoral studies.
JOO studies in other Finnish universities are available for postgraduate students. Please notice that Doctoral students are required to include a statement from their supervisor on the suitability of the JOO courses.

The Tamy Student Union membership is optional for UTA postgraduate students. Student Union membership does not entitle the postgraduate students to the same membership benefits as Bachelor and Master students enjoy. For more information see the Tamy postgraduate info page. Please notice that Doctoral students are not able to use YTHS health services.
With regard to ethics in research and the prevention of fraud, the University of Tampere has adopted the procedures proposed by the National Advisory Board on Research Ethics. The recommendations can be found at the National Advisory Board on Research Ethics website.
