The Academy of Finland has in the past financed doctoral programmes (graduate schools). The financing is now closing, so please check if the programmes below still offer financed positions and when their application periods are.
The School of Information Sciences participates in the following Doctoral programmes:
UTA page for all Doctoral programmes coordinated by the University of Tampere.
Finnish Doctoral programmes operate either as nation-wide organisations within the same field, or as local organizations with members from many fields. Doctoral programmes fund full-time doctoral studies: every Doctoral programme has a certain number of full-time placements, which are filled by application for a maximum period of four years. Some Doctoral programmes accept doctoral students who bring their own financing.
Doctoral programmes offer many doctoral course units, and Doctoral programme students have a chance to get more systematical supervision and other support for their studies (e.g. financing for travel). Course units arranged by Doctoral programmes are usually open to all doctoral students.
Please note that in order to be admitted to a Doctoral programme applicants must first gain admission to take a doctoral degree at the School of Information Sciences.
For more information on Doctoral programmes in the field, please contact the professor of the intended major subject.
