New exchange students can apply for summer courses on Finnish language and culture. Courses take place in July-August prior to the start of the academic year.
Erasmus students can apply for ERASMUS Intensive Language Courses (EILC). EILC courses are language courses in the less widely used or taught European languages, including the two official languages of Finland, Finnish and Swedish. Both Erasmus exchange students and those coming to Finland for an Erasmus practical placement are eligible to participate.
A list of organizing universities and instructions for applicants is published annually in April-May on the Study in Filnland website (website of Centre for International Mobility, CIMO). UTA Language Centre has organized an EILC course several times during the past years.
The three higher education institutions (HEIs) in Tampere, Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), Tampere University of Technology (TUT) and the University of Tampere (UTA), organize a joint Summer School on Finnish Language and Culture in Tampere each year before the autumn semester begins.
The course is open for students coming from outside the European Union (EU) and accepted as exchange/degree students at TAMK, TUT or UTA. Information for applicants is published annually in May.
