You must always enrol in advance for University sports courses. The times for enrolment are displayed on the net pages of the sports services at "Courses" and on NettiOpsu under course information. Please enrol using NettiOpsu unless otherwise notified for a given course. To enrol over the net you must have a valid basic user account and password. The courses are under University Services.
To enrol on a course you must be a student of the University of Tampere and registered as ‘present'. You register at the University by paying the Student Union fee to a bank using a personal reference number.
You can use NettiOpsu to check and possibly cancel your enrolment, which is binding. Please do not therefore simply enrol "just to be sure". Enrolment is personal and may not be transferred to another individual. No study points are given for sports courses.
Not all sports courses are listed in NettiOpsu, so please check the complete list on the net pages.
The courses are open to all University of Tampere students interested in exercise. If there are more enrolments than places on the courses, selection will be made by drawing lots. You will find the numbers of participants accepted among the course information on NettiOpsu and on the net pages of the sports services.
Those who are accepted for courses will be notified by electronic mail once the enrolment period expires. At that time you will also receive some practical information. NettiOpsu will also be updated with the names of those accepted. Others will be placed in reserve.
You can ensure that you get a place on the course only by actually being present the first time or by informing the Director of University Sports in advance of a compelling reason for your absence. Any vacancies will be filled from those on the reserve list in the order in which they appear on it. These people will be notified as soon as possible by electronic mail.
A course will be cancelled if there are fewer than 10 enrolments. Notification of cancellation will be given on the et pages of the sports services and in NettiOpsu.
Courses are classified into three levels (1-3). If you are only trying out a sport, choose level 1. If you have already learnt the basics of a sport, enrol for level 2, and if you have already practised a sport and are looking for further challenges go for level 3.
Enrolment for courses which must be paid for follows the conditions above. After the enrolment period has expired those accepted will be notified by electronic mail where payment should be made. Payment must be made immediately, and always at least three (3) working days prior to the start of the course. If payment has not been made in time the right to participate will be withdrawn and the place given to someone on the reserve list. The payment should also be made if the cancellation is made after the deadline. The payment will only be returned if the student gives an appropriate certificate (for example medical certificate) regarding being prevented from making use of the reservation.
Atalpa fee
Most of the courses are in Atalpa. In order to do sports in Atalpa you should have the Atalpa sticker or pay one visit. More information about Atalpa fee.
You can cancel your participation to Sports Office five (5) days before the beginning of the course. If you do not cancel in time you may not participate in any other sports courses that term. Cancellations made later than the cancellation deadline must be accompanied by an appropriate certificate, (for example medical certificate) regarding being prevented from making use of the reservation. Contact the University Sports Office to cancel your participation. Courses which must be paid for: if the cancellation is made later than the cancellation deadline the fee will not be refunded.
