ERASMUS+ GRANTS for Work Placements - Instructions for applicants

These instructions are updated prior to beginning of each application period and they are preliminary until the start of the application round.

Additional application period I: 15 – 30 March 2017

Work Placements in the Autumn 2017

Erasmus+ offers students a possibility to receive a grant for a work placement in Europe. The work placement may take place in one of the following countries: EU member states and Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Turkey.

Eligible to apply are all degree students at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral level. The work placement should be credited and included in the degree awarded by the University of Tampere. Students should agree on this with their tutor teachers before applying for the grant. Please note that you can only apply for an Erasmus grant for a placement period during which your right to study at UTA is still valid, or you would need to make sure that the right to study can be extended if necessary.

The students who are selected to the programme receive an Erasmus+ grant and the amount depends on the duration of the placement and on the host country. The grant is paid in two instalments: the first instalment prior to the commencement of the placement period; the second instalment is paid once a placement report and certificate has been duly submitted to the International Office. Please note that you can participate in Erasmus+ student exchange and/or work placement up to 12 months maximum per each cycle of study.

Once the student has been awarded a grant, she/he will start searching for a work placement independently. The host organisation offering the placement may be private or public. Bodies of the European Union, organisations administering EU programmes and embassies or consulates of the student’s country of origin are not accepted. Work placement offers are published e.g. on the following web portals:

Advice and support

To apply for the grant, submit an application via NettiOpsu in the section International Exchanges. In addition to the application, please submit a Europass Curriculum Vitae to the Erasmus Office (room A110, main building, e-mail: erasmus@uta.fi) during the application period.

A Europass Curriculum Vitae can be downloaded at: europass.cedefop.europa.eu/en/documents/curriculum-vitae

Please mention the following in your application:

  • What kind of a work placement do you primarily intend to find and where?
  • How would you benefit from a work placement with respect to your studies and future career?
  • Do you intend to apply or have you already applied for funding for a work placement at your home school or elsewhere?
  • How will you include the work placement in your degree?
  • Have you already completed a work placement included in your degree programme?

Priority is given to students in the final stages of their studies who have not completed a work placement before. It does not make a difference whether the work placement is a compulsory or an optional part of the degree. Attention is paid to the applicant’s motivation and preparedness for a work placement abroad.

The selection results will be announced in Student's Desktop in NettiOpsu and via email to all applicants on 7 April 2017 at the latest. The grant should be accepted via Student's Desktop in NettiOpsu on 15 April 2017 at the latest.
