Compiling a travel report is mandatory for anyone who has received a
travel grant, an Erasmus or other exchange programme specific grant or an Erasmus work placement grant. The report should be sent through NettiOpsu (International Exchanges --> Travel Report --> Make) within a month of returning. In case your exchange or work placement period is not yet updated in NettiOpsu, please add it first on page Enter a New Exchange.
Although the length of a travel report varies from one writer to
another, the report should be at least two pages long. The following
instructions are not binding, but they are worth reading through prior
to writing the report.
The travel reports are especially valuable for students planning an
exchange period or a work placement, which should be taken into account when writing the
report.
Please notice that those who undertook work placement through the Erasmus Programme should follow these instructions when writing the travel report (PDF)
Prior arrangements in Finland and the application process: Did you have
any specific problems with the UTA or the exchange university? Were you
able to plan your studies in the exchange university before departure?
How did you find out about courses beforehand? Did you take out a
travel insurance policy? Were you able to get all the required
documents on time and without problems? Did you take part on a
preliminary language course at UTA or elsewhere before leaving? If so,
was it useful?
Arrival at the host country: Were you appointed a student tutor and/or did you get other support directed to foreign students?
Living: Did you have an apartment ready upon arrival? What was the cost
of living like? Have you got any tips regarding getting an apartment or
other matters to do with housing and living conditions?
Studying: Which subject(s) did you study at the host university? Did
the level and quality of tuition meet your expectations? What kind of
methods of teaching and ways of completing study modules were there?
Were study materials easily available? What were the IT services like?
Which language(s) did you study in? Was your language competence high
enough?
Other matters worth mentioning: leisure activities and traveling, weather, food, local customs etc.
Return to Tampere: Were you accredited for your studies abroad? Was the crediting process unproblematic?
