Erasmus+ Programme

The Erasmus+ Programme is the new EU-programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport covering the programme period beginning in 2014 and ending in 2020. Exchanges under the new programme began in autumn 2014.

As of 2014-2015, the conditions for Erasmus Student Exchange as well as Erasmus Work Placements were altered: In the future a student may receive Erasmus grants for studying or work placements abroad totalling up to 12 months maximum per each study level (ie. Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral level).

During the transition period, the duration of exchanges and work placements completed under the old Erasmus Programme will be taken into consideration and reduced from the student’s possible 12 months of studying or work placements abroad, for example: If you have already spent 6 months abroad under the Erasmus Programme on the Bachelor’s level of your studies, you are still allowed another 6 months of studying and/or training abroad under the new Erasmus+ Programme on the same study level, in this case on the Bachelor’s level.

Your study level will be determined by the study level you will be at as your exchange period begins. That is, if you will complete your Bachelor’s degree during spring and will continue on to your Master’s level studies in the following autumn, you can apply for a Master’s level exchange period for the upcoming autumn term.

Your language competence will be tested online and there will be an online language training tool available for the Programme participants. This applies to the English, Spanish, Italian, French, German and Dutch languages.

Both the exact length as well as the destination country of the exchange or work placement will affect the amount of the grant received. Destination countries are classified in two groups:

  • Group 1 (higher living costs): Austria, Denmark, Ireland, France, Italy, Sweden, United Kingdom, Liechtenstein, Norway.
  • Group 2 (lower living costs): Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Iceland, Turkey, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Romania, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Erasmus student exchange and Erasmus work placement can be completed in the countries participating in the Erasmus+ programme only.
