Degrees

The University of Tampere offers studies leading to the following degrees

• lower university degrees (first cycle) known as Bachelor's, in Finnish kandidaatti 
• higher university degrees (second cycle) known as Master's, in Finnish maisteri, and in Medicine, Licentiate's, in Finnish lisensiaatti
• scientific and artistic postgraduate degrees (third cycle) known as Licentiate's, in Finnish lisensiaatti, and Doctor's, in Finnish tohtori. In addition, specialist training is given in medicine.

The objectives, structure and content of degree programmes are described in the respective curricula, which appear in the curricula guides published by the appropriate schools.

A student may only hold at one given time the right to study towards one lower or higher university degree or scientific postgraduate degree at the University of Tampere.  A student will not be granted a new study right for a degree of the same content which that student has already taken at the University of Tampere.
