A student admitted to study for a master's degree only

If you received the right to study or are being given the right to study solely for a master's degree, the following limitations apply to you:

  • The target time for the completion of a higher university degree (master's) is two academic years, except for the master's degree in psychology, which is two and a half academic years.

  • A student admitted to study solely for a master's degree is entitled to complete that degree in not more than two years over the target time for completion. (556/2005 in the Finnish legislation)

Thus the time allowed for the completion of a master's degree alone is 2 + 2 years.
