International Tutoring

As a tutor you will get a chance to help new international students adapt to their new study environment and student life at the University of Tampere. You will be trained to this important task by the International Office of the University of Tampere and the Student Union.

Tutoring reports

You are entitled to maximum of two credits after you have filled a feedback form and returned a report of two A4 sheets to the International Office (intoffice at uta.fi) and to your school. Please remember that it is your school and not the International Office that gives you the credits. The report and the feedback form should be returned between 15 November and 31 December 2012. Since the feedback form is to be found only in Finnish, please contact the International Office in order to get an English version if needed.

As a thank you, you will receive a Juvenes voucher of 20 euros! You can pick it up from the International Office (Main Building A 129) between 21 January and 28 February 2013. Please remember that you are entitled to the credits and the voucher only if you have tutored this autumn semester!

Here is a list of possible topics we would like you to include in your report:

• What kind of an experience tutoring was to you?
• How did you plan or prepared for tutoring?
• Was the training session useful to you and how? If not, why?
• Did you work together with your school or your subject and how?
• Did you work together with your student organization and how?
• What kind of feedback did you get of your tutoring? Any proposals for improvement?
• Do you consider tutoring a valuable experience for later working life?
• Did you find the Guide for International Tutors useful and how? Any proposals for improvement?
• What were the most common problems you encountered when tutoring?

Please remember to fill in the following information: your name and student number, the number of students you tutored and how long you have been a tutor.
