The Faculty
of Humanities was founded in 1964. The task of the faculty is to engage
in research in the Humanities and to provide teaching based thereon. The
faculty comprises six departments. There are seventeen major subjects in
the field of Humanities, and several study modules designed as minor
subjects. In addition, the faculty also offers education in the field of
Theatre and Dance: the four-year master's degree offered in the
Department of Acting prepares graduates for the actor's profession.
There are some
3500 students in the faculty, of which the majority, approximately 3000,
study for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. In addition, there are some 300
postgraduate students and about 200
non-degree students. Every year approximately 300 new students are admitted
into the faculty.
