About us

The Faculty of Information Sciences is concerned with the fields of Computer Science, Interactive Technology, Information Studies and Interactive Media, Mathematics, and Statistics. From 1 August 2010 Information Studies and Hypermedia have merged to form a new discipline of Information Studies and Interactive Media.

Research and teaching in the Faculty are intended to respond to the increasing demands for information technology in today's society. The Faculty offers teaching and engages in research on the development of new technology and information services based on research findings. Research activities focus on the methods and techniques of information organization, processing and use. Research in the Faculty enjoys international respect and appreciation.

Quality assurance in the University of Tampere

The quality assurance system in the University of Tampere consists of objectives set for teaching, researching, societal impact and interaction, human resources, support and administration services and management; and of the practices that assure the quality of the actions. The University of Tampere is multidisciplinary and committed to scientific research and to advanced teaching. The hallmark of the university is its sound and diverse research and teaching which is focused on the society and its economy, the administration and culture, as well as on the health and welfare of the inviduals.
