Graduate Schools (Doctoral Schools)

The departments in the Faculty of Information Sciences participate in the following Graduate Schools:

UTA page for all Graduate Schools coordinated by the University of Tampere.

Finnish Graduate Schools operate either as nation-wide postgraduate organisations within the same field, or as local organizations with members from many fields. Graduate Schools fund full-time postgraduate studies: every Graduate School has a certain number of full-time placements, which are filled by application for a maximum period of four years. Some Schools accept postgraduate students who bring their own financing.

Graduate Schools offer many postgraduate courses, and Graduate School students have a chance to get more systematical supervision and other support for their studies (e.g. financing for travel). Courses arranged by Graduate Schools are usually open to all postgraduate students.

Please note that in order to be admitted to a Graduate School the student must first gain admission to take a postgraduate degree in the Faculty. For more information on Graduate Schools, please contact the professor of the intended major subject.
